Checks the machine-checkable PDF/UA-1 requirements (Matterhorn protocol subset) and, for PDF/UA-2 documents, the main additional PDF/UA-2 requirements (structure namespaces, list numbering, widget descriptions): tagging, untagged content, metadata, title, language, embedded fonts, alternate text of figures, annotations, form fields and permissions. The containment rules of the structure types (ISO 32000-2, Annex L) are not checked. Semantic aspects (correct reading order, meaningful alternate texts) still need human review; use a full validator such as veraPDF or PAC for certification.

Checks document and returns a human-readable description of each issue found (empty if none). The PDF/UA part is taken from UAConformance or the XMP metadata (pdfuaid:part).
